Getting some serious lag using Unicast sACN, the first universe or two seem to be fine, but everything after that has some serious frame drops. I don’t seem to be having the same sort of issues with Multicast.
Yeap I confirm,
I had the same experience with unicast… multticast work fine
@SuperflysiNZ can you attach your patch here or give me a hint how to reproduce it?
HowTo Send Packets (Unicast and Multicast).vl (38.6 KB)
I just pointed Unicast back to my machine, and use ProPlex Manager DMX Viewer to see the data.
Universes 1,2,3,4 are unicast, and 9,10, 11 and 12 are multicast.
@SuperflysiNZ I have a suspicion, let me check it tonight and I ll get back to you!
@SuperflysiNZ & @Raphael
There is a new release in the making, sACN 1.0.2 keep an eye on nuget packets it will be available any time soon.
or try nuget install VL.sACN -Version 1.0.2
That’s fixed the Unicast. Somthing interesting, since testing multicast with lots of universes I’ve found that I’m getting some lag after about 11 universes. Maybe there is something not right on my network for multicast to work properly?
Here’s a little test patch that is outputting to as many universes as required for testing, currently got it set for 30.
Multi Test sACN.vl (24.1 KB)
Just checked the last test patch at home in the office, where I have a much gruntier machine with a more modern graphics card, almost identicle network though, both multicast, and unicast are holding up really well, I might try a different switch at the workshop and see if that changes things for mulitcast.
@SuperflysiNZ I can’t see anything strange or suspicious going on with sACNViewer and the patch you provided. Maybe as you are mentioning above, can be a deficiency of the materials you are using? If you do any progress with tests let me know!
VL.KiNet Could it be related to the issue I had with kinet and artnet? I needed to specify the adapter to send the udp through, otherwise it went to wifi and ethernet, I ended up with a socket error
@catweasel could be, I am not quite sure yet but I think it is resolved, the way I was pushing the values to the UDP socket (Datagrams) was a bit problematic, still waiting for some feedback but it should be fine now.
Hey @nissidis I’m using this on a new installation this week… so I will give you some feedback on this … Also I recommand proplex manager as well, this soft give a little bit more feed back to test!
Thanks for the quick respond
great! good to know, I though it needed a license, but sure I ll give it a go.
Nop you dont need a licence,
The interface is really nice and there plenty of nice feature… the simulator is pretty nice as well
Log on sACN multicast at the workshop was caused by having wireless network and wired network enabled on the same machine on the same netwrok… once I disabled the wireless all was good. Doesn’t seem to effect unicast, but multicast had a big impact.
I confirm here,
The fixe is good for unicast, my installation is running perfectly !!
Thanks again @nissidis
Great news @Raphael I am glad to read that you are doing well with sACN, so I consider it as production proof!
