The Ultimate Guide to Game Developement with vvvv and vvvv.js

Yey guys please vote it I am super thrilled about finaly presenteing this project!

One Sentence: Whats happening in your workshop?
In this workshop we will finaly enable game-developement with vvvv and vvvv.js, whereas vvvv acts as a powerful tool for procedural content generation (procedural generated characters, terrain, vegetation, buildings, dungeons, skill systems etc) and vvvv.js acts as the run-time which can deploy games for browsers, mobile devices and classical PC applications, with its new game engine component.

What 3 tags describe your workshop?
games, procedural content generation, vvvv.js

In which of the three categories does your workshop fall: beginner, intermediate, advanced
advanced

How long will your workshop be?
(Standard formats are 3h or 2x 3h, but other formats may be possible)
2x 3h

Who is the target audience of your workshop?
vvvv addicts and game developers

What knowledge do you presume your participants have?
DX11, good patching skills, vvvv.js beginner level

What will attendees of your workshop learn?

  • procedural content generation in vvvv
  • vvvv - vvvv.js exchange formats
  • vvvv.js game engine (scene management, collision detection, multi instancing engine, shaders etc)

What technical requirements does your workshop have (apart from internet and a projector)?
e.g. special hardware, software, graphiccards, materials, dancers/performers
dancers could be fun!

Who would be the two hosts?
David Gann (tekcor) + X (Eventuell Matthias Zauner)

How would the hosts qualify for the topic? (Describe and add links to portfolio website, github, vimeo,… accounts)

Detailed Description

David will introduce the new VVVV.js features which have been developed during his master thesis about procedural games and game development with VVVV and VVVV.js. In detail the following features will be described, all neatly packed in useful example patches:

  • Physically based rendering
  • Loading meshes and scene files
  • Instancing
  • Instancing based character animation and vegetation
  • large scale dynamic terrain rendering
  • 3d physics engine

Participants need a laptop with the Chrome Browser and Node.js 6.x installed.

Who would be the two hosts?

Matthias Zauner (sagishi) and David Gann (tekcor)

How would the hosts qualify for the topic? (Describe and add links to portfolio website, github, vimeo,… accounts)

Matthias Zauner / sagishi (vvvvjs.com, GitHub - zauner/vvvv.js) is the project maintainer and main developer of VVVV.js and has incorporated it in various projects, both commercial and non-commercial.

David Gann / tekcor (symbioticcube.com, 000.graphics) has a history of abusing VVVV.js and pushing it to its limits. He has contributed to VVVV.js by enhancing its WebGL capabilities and uses it in his toolchain for web based game development.

One Sentence: Whats happening in your workshop?

vvvv.js just received a game engine node library and advanced rendering techniques which are designed to work together with the procedural content generation capabilities of vvvv in order to enable the development of web and mobile games or other interactive applications that benefit from these technologies (VR, web-art etc.).
