The particle system falls when the node preview is displayed

I noticed this behaviour a long time ago, but now it has become a regular occurrence. It seems like a bug, but maybe someone can give a better explanation or a hint on how to avoid this behaviour.

At first, I thought it was my setup, but I checked the help patches and the behaviour is the same.

To reproduce:

  1. Create a certain number of particles.
  2. Hover over the output (for example, the Position input of the SetCommonAttributes node).
  3. See that the ‘Number Of Available Elements’ has gone to a very large negative number.
  4. Particle creation has stopped.
  • To be precise, in my case, I don’t even need to create particles. I just hover over the node output going to Position, then try to create a particle and get a negative number instead of particles. And the longer I hover, the bigger the number gets.

This behaviour is consistent on my computer. Could this be a bug specific to my card (pretty old rtx2080 ti)?

I opened the ‘HotTo Use ParticleSystem’ basic example.

vl.fuse.1.0.3-beta8 / 7.1-0145

Are you on an older fuse version? This has been fixed in the meantime.

@tgd Is version 1.0.3-beta8 the latest one? If so, then it is the latest version. That’s the first thing I checked.

@yar I think the latest one only available by cloning repo…

@yar have seen it in older versions for sure but not in the new ones anymore (the one you are using for example). at least you can avoid it just by not looking at it;)
