I noticed this behaviour a long time ago, but now it has become a regular occurrence. It seems like a bug, but maybe someone can give a better explanation or a hint on how to avoid this behaviour.
At first, I thought it was my setup, but I checked the help patches and the behaviour is the same.
To reproduce:
- Create a certain number of particles.
- Hover over the output (for example, the Position input of the SetCommonAttributes node).
- See that the ‘Number Of Available Elements’ has gone to a very large negative number.
- Particle creation has stopped.
- To be precise, in my case, I don’t even need to create particles. I just hover over the node output going to Position, then try to create a particle and get a negative number instead of particles. And the longer I hover, the bigger the number gets.
This behaviour is consistent on my computer. Could this be a bug specific to my card (pretty old rtx2080 ti)?
I opened the ‘HotTo Use ParticleSystem’ basic example.
