One Sentence: Whats happening in your workshop?
Learn how to use box2d physics in vvvv.
What 3 tags describe your workshop?
2d physics, animation, gravity (optional) ;)
In which of the three categories does your workshop fall: beginner, intermediate, advanced
beginner
How long will your workshop be?
(Standard formats are 3h or 2x 3h, but other formats may be possible)
3h
Who is the target audience of your workshop?
Everyone interested in physics based 2d animation.
What knowledge do you presume your participants have?
Basic vvvv knowledge.
What will attendees of your workshop learn?
Get an overview of the box2d nodes available and how they are meant to be used in vvvv. Setup a simulation. Create, manipulate and destroy objects. Play with gravity, forces and joints. Retrieve and understand the simulation data provided by the engine. Find out about bodies, shapes, collisions and ids. Finally render everything to a screen.
What technical requirements does your workshop have (apart from internet and a projector)?
e.g. special hardware, software, graphiccards, materials, dancers/performers
Participants please get latest vvvv and addonapack.
Have box2 contribution from user vux installed (link will follow as soon as available).
Who would be the two hosts?
Thomas(tgd), Chris (u7angel)
How would the hosts qualify for the topic? (Describe and add links to portfolio website, github, vimeo,… accounts)
Thomas does vvvv patching since 2010. Likes physics-based simulations a lot:)
Been co-hosting last box2d workshop at node. Patched “box2D playground” contribution demoing box2d use. box2d playground | vvvv
Chris does vvvv patching since 2004, codes in c# and HLSL and runs the studio wirmachenbunt.
Apart from that, he teaches vvvv at the Muthesius Academy of Arts Kiel since 2006.
He messed a lot with cars, simulated with Bullet Physics.
