I’ve shown vvvv to a mac guy, who passed me a few .mov, and I faced the same issue. I managed by unlinking and relinking vlc and quad.
I guess using a windows codec it’s a solution, and you could convert with vlc itself - I also noticed that vlc for osx has a LOT missing features and it doesn’t perform very well.
last time i try mp4 was limited to an full hd size however it has some pixel aspect so u can’t spot difference, go picvideo mjpeg codec, or dds sequence, but 4096x2048 in general quite alot of pixels for cpu
Yeah sory actually this video is smaller. 2048x800… for the 4k im using dds good.
What i find is that if i load some other media (another vlc node with audio/video, a dshow filestream with video, etc.) the vlc stops showing the texture. audio from the vlc video.
If i reload the vvvv, video starts ok.
I dont know if its
thing is, a couple of vvvversions in the past. vlc was working perfect. I mean, I stoped thinking about codecs when vlc node became stable. Iwas able to say “give me anything, I dont care” to the guys making video. But at some point, now its working weird.
I really think it has something to do with the dx9ex mode…
A lot of guys told me they changed completely to dds sequence. So i want to know if anyone is using vlc for large video playback across multiple monitors on a single card, and what do you use ??

i think older vlc build had dependencies acroding to it version
so might installing some older version of vlc and copying dll’s from vlc folder to vvvv might help…
sadly have acess denied when accessing old contrib page obsolete-see-addonpack-filestream-(ex9.texture-vlc)
well it’s pretty much as dx11 vlc works atm
gonna check if i have an old vlc version on my hdd
but usually codec problems more pc bloatware related then a vlc node, usually behavior is same as original vlc player…
i also had faults when using either of the DX9 filestreams. for me it was always linked to the overall load of my patch, mostly my excessive use of Blend Nodes. Resetting the fileplayer usually worked - but to get rid of those problems, please switch to DX11!
