Video Playback broken on lower end AMD Devices in Versions > 7.2

On smaller AMD Devices i noticed some Problems with Video playback.

Background blooms, Edges glow, movement leaves pixel trails.

Tested on:
Geekom A8 Max
AMD Ryzen 7 8745HS with Radeon 780M
Win 11 Pro Tested with 25H2 and 24H2, current drivers.

Happens on all Versions > 7.2 with Stride & Skia (& ffmpeg)
Tested with the help patch.

Testfile is here (but works with every h264 i tested): https://files.bildwerk.tv/dvdscreensavermaker-1080p-300-188480.mp4

Remote access to the testmachine would be possible.

No issues here with my oldschool AMD Ryzen 7 Pro 5850U.

Did you try updating the driver?

Edit:
The AMD Ryzen 7 8745HS seems to be a “china only model” not sure if this can cause problems with drivers not coming from the manufacturer.

Tried with the drivers from the vendor and the latest from amd. Same behaviour.

The machine where i noticed it on the project had an AMD Ryzen 5 7430U.
I’ll look for some other pcs to test in the meantime.

Edit:
Just also tested with an AMD Ryzen 7 7840U with Radeon 780M - same issue
Edit2:
Another Test on an older (not updated) Windows Surface with an Intel N200 gives troubles with 7.4, random white flashes and glitches while 7.1 plays fine.

Any difference if you play around with the “Prefer Push” and “Prefer Gpu” on the VideoSourceToImage/Texture nodes?

prefer gpu off fixed it on all devices, what changed to that toggle between 7.2 and 7.3?

We will need to investigate what caused this regression.

We were able to reproduce your issue on one of our devices. Culprit was a colorspace related change in 7.3 which in turn lead to a change to the video nodes using RGBA16F texture formats instead of RGBA8 int formats to save a texture copy needed for srgb/linear conversion. In upcoming the system will again use the RGBA8 formats with the copy and optionally allow (via a new pin) to use the float formats without the copy.
