Textures from 6.7 Patch Fail to Load in Version 7.0

Here is a patch created with version 6.7.

The patch mainly uses a Path Dictionary Reader and a Texture Reader to read data from the disk.

When opening this patch in version 7.0, the textures fail to load. The specific behavior is as follows:

  1. TextureReader / FileTexture nodes do not work, both in the existing Process node and when creating new instances of these nodes.

  2. At the same time, GetDirectories / Dir nodes work normally.

  3. When I use TextureReader / FileTexture independently in a newly created VL file, they work normally. This seems to indicate that the problem is specific to this particular patch.

  4. Copying the problematic patch directly into a new .vl file does not resolve the issue. The problem persists.

Additional information
The .vl file and the folder containing the image files are located under the same root directory on the disk.
I have uninstalled version 6.7.
I have also reinstalled version 7.0, but the issue still persists.

thanks, but can you please prepare a .zip file that includes an image and set up everything that we can just unzip it and then open the .vl doc in 6.7 and 7.0 and clearly see the difference?

and please remove everything from the patch that is not necessary to show the issue.

@joreg Thank you for taking a look at it for me:) I’m not sure how it runs on your computer.

BUG Textures from 6.7 Patch Fail to Load in Version 7.0.zip (1.3 MB)

i’m afraid this is a bit unclear. your patch has a process node called ImageProcess at the top. its output is not connected to anything of the large patch that follows below.

if i remove the large unconnected bottom portion of the patch, the upper part seems to work as expected. textures are loading fine. i’m testing this with 7.4 (any reason you’d not use the latest stable?).

so i’m wondering if this is what you’re facing. the below part causing an error and you assuming the upper part not working, when it is actually the lower part that stops everything. please check again on your end. if this is not it, please reduce your patch to a minimum that shows the issue. removing all unconnected parts als.

@joreg Thank you very much for the reminder. Can’t quite explain it, but after downloading 7.4 and opening the original file (a complete project patch), it ran lightning-fast with no node changes. I had cleared space on my local SSD before that, and I suspect that was causing the texture loading issues.
