Static operation 'Apply' pin

It took me a while to realise that only operations defined in class/processes/records have a configurable ‘apply’ pin. Its not a top priority for me but how easy or difficult would it be to allow static operations (those defined in the document document rather than a class) to also be configurable?

If it means a big re-write, I’m good, but occasionally it would make my life a bit easier.
