windows98 is not supported officially anymore, although vvvv used to run quite smoothly on win98. the bug you are describing sounds like it could have been introduced with the recent unicode features. tell us your results.

Yes, indeed.
Delete the args.txt located in the vvvv-root-folder to disable the vvvv-startup-patch which makes use of the unicode features. This may help to avoid your problem.
Thanks for the advice, guys, but I’m still having no luck. I tried two previous versions and those gave me a blue screen on first launch and then nothing on subsequent launches.
The other suggestion re: removing the args.txt still gave me the original message as above.
I don’t, to my knowledge, have DirectShow installed. Would this prevent vvvv from launching properly?
