maybe I am missing a control feature I don’t know about. But I would love to be able to create nodes from the keyboard as in pure data (pd-l2ork).
After creating a node I can create a new node that automatically connects the first inlet by pressing a keyboard combination.
Of course that’s not always the connection you want, but you wouldn’t have to move to the mouse for every node creation.
Maybe there could even be some form of auto-detection if the connections have matching formats.
Just a suggestion, I have 0 clue on how to implement such a mechanism
ok, but that would still need the mouse right? I thought it would be convenient to create new nodes by keyboard combination:
press key > type node name > press key > type node name….
i could create a sequence of nodes like that. And then move to the mouse to connect them.
Instead of having to move to the mouse after every node creation.
@peppi There is nothing of the sort in the current version of VVVV Gamma (7.2-0020 preview). The node browser cannot be invoked via the keyboard.
I understand that you found it convenient in PD, but I occasionally create patches in PD and consider this keyboard-based logic to be archaic and rather outdated. The VVVV node system is more complex; perhaps the ability to call the node browser via the keyboard will appear one day, but I doubt it will be in the form it takes in PD.
