Some time passed since my last entry. Meanwhile you have set up a new homepage and a new version of your fabulous toolkit.
I am still working on my sensitive architecture, as discribed on the old forum.
I am probably going for the solution with the USB/DMX-512 Control Box by Cinetix. I want to control some motors (drill machines) via dmx dimmers.
But before I am going to buy that thing, I have to know:
Do I have to write any kind of driver to make it work with vvvv? (because I don´t
have any programing skills) Is it the Plug and play solution I am longing for?
This thing is conected to my pc via USB?! What is meant by: "it is fully controlled
via RS232 and a virtual COM-Port that is available after installing the “virtual-
COM-Port-driver”
Do I need a RS232 Port?
(a) dmx is usually very foolproof and plug&play
(a) i recommend the soundlight usbdmx.
(b) no, you dont need a physical rs232 port. the usb driver installs a virtual rs232 port.
As I understood you do not need a physical RS232 port; you only need a Virtual Com Port driver (somewhere here is the information where to get this, don’t know where, do a search) and a patch communicating via that RS232 node with the virtual com port.
MSBERGER patched something that you could need.
I wonder more about the drilling machines:
are they 230 Volts?
are you sure that you can control their RPMs simply via dimming?
give it a try before you buy an expensive dimmerpack!
