How to produce a mesh like this?

do you have ideas how a smooth mesh like in the picture above could be created dynamically? i am thinking of something like a voluminous spline.

I’d look at the GPU splines or GPU particles, Dottore has made smooth spline meshes like that for partitura, so thats a good starting point
