This on 8.0-131, but I have seen such a behavior for a little while already.
When opening gamma, the help browser keeps displaying the spinner that says “Search starts once indexing is finished”, and search does not work (typing something does not filter help patches). If you click a help patch, the spinner disappears and search instantly works.
hm.. and you’re saying this happens every time you start vvvv? (cannot reproduce here)
Yes, happens all the time here.
To debug further I started vvvv with the help browser directly open and log level set to Trace. I have copied these logs before and after opening the help patch in a text file attached to this message, the amount of text was too big to fin a forum post (had to .zip it because .txt file uploads are not allowed).
You’ll see at line 406 it says OPEN HELP PATCH.

Update: it looks like it does not happen if I install a package first and then open the help browser.
