Fade In,Hold,Fade Out

Hi all,

Fist of all, hi everyone, this is my first post on the forum.
I’m new to v4, and I’m trying to learn the ropes to use it on a little project.
I went through the intoductury videos, greybook,etc..
I’m trying to control a light object intensity with a fade-in effect, then hold a the value for a certain amount of time and then fade out. I created a sample patch that controls a sphere radius to test the logic.
The (depressingly failing)patch is attached.
I think I’m missing something fundamental in the way V4 execute the patch, the order of execution etc..
I tried with video tutorials or forum search but I couldn’t find a reference.

Also I’m finding hard to understand what the different components ( and different versions of the same component) do and work as I couldn’t find documentation that descirbes the components (except the most popular ones). The video tutorials cover some specific cases, so I can’t always find or extract specific logics or information from the patches coverd in the tutorials. I guess everyone in this forum went through the same process, so if you have any suggestion, that would be much appreciated.

Thank you very much and sorry for the dumb question :/.

One of many ways.

PS: There is currently a special offer for the next vvvv beginners course at the node institute.

Thanks So much @bjoern! The Monoflop was the secret ingredient!
Did you put the filter componenet properties into a cache region because they get displayed/used only once (to show as text)? is that the best practice?

Thanks for the link, I had a look at the upcoming course already. I’m going throught the videos from Node20 at the moment.

Another question somehow related…I worked in Processing before and I was wondering if I can emualte the setup() function in Processing with a record that I use only to assign pads to the create process at the beginning of the patch. Or am I getting completely wrong?

Thank you.

Paolo

Here is a little video how to go from p5 to vvvv.

Uses a class instead of record but the assigning the values works similar

That’s awesome, thank you so much @levoxtrip

You are welcome. Hope it helps. Let me know if you have some questions
