Connecting arduino to vvvv

Hello everyone,

I would first like to say that I am very new to both vvvv and arduino. I am attempting to create a simple interface between vvvv and arduino. It consists of 12 switches connected to arduino which will communicate with vvvv telling it if that digital input is either a 1 or a 0.
How can this be easily achieved? I have been using Firmata and the patch for vvvv that comes with it but I can’t put it working. Is there a simpler way?

it would help, if you could describe what did not work?
we tested with different borads and setups – all with the standard firmata – it worked.
i am most happy to fix the bugs.
