can anyone point me in the direction of a simple patch where an audio file effects a video/image file via FFT?
does vvvv have a iFFT node, where the audio is translated back into the time domain after spectral manipulation?

no, vvvv doesnt have a iFFT node. the waveplayer allows to create very flexible sounds, but its not strictly an iFFT
