Audio crackles

Cannot reproduce with the help patch in latest 7.0 preview 525, long mp3 file, 44.1 kHz, audio engine set to WASAP and 48kHz. 20 minutes looped playback, no clicks or crackles.

If you work on patches and vvvv does a recompile, it is expected to have crackles here and there, as the whole state and instances get swapped.

But if you don’t work on the patch and your CPU has enough power, it should all be fine. Especially when exported.

However, if your patch produces a lot of garbage collections and you run into GC2 collections, then everything comes to a halt, and you will hear a crackle. So make sure you don’t create too much memory every frame. E.g. re-use mutable collections, no big spreads, and so on…

You can check for garbage collections in the Stride Profiler (press F3 and then F5 in a Stride window).
